Two alumni are “building” a life together

Amanda Cohen and Michael Sullivan both transferred to Lynn University after 1 year at different schools. It was love at first sight. After graduating in ’05, Amanda and Michael married in January 2006. Their time at Lynn helped prepare them for the future by “providing us structure, and a platform that allowed us to focus on our strengths,” Amanda said. When asked about what they enjoyed most about Lynn, Amanda noted that it was “the faculty support, mainly the enthusiasm they have for the students.”

Since Amanda had experience as an administrative assistant, professional engineer and project manager for a commercial developer and Michael was a state certified general contractor, the Sullivan’s decided they would use their experience and skills learned at Lynn and started their own company. In 2006, the couple founded Sullivan Construction Company in Pompano Beach, FL as a general contracting company specializing in retail, restaurant and commercial and hospitality construction.  In addition to helping co-found the company, Amanda plays a vital role in day to day operations as the company controller and also oversees all strategic growth planning. The time Mike and Amanda spent at Lynn continues to play a role in their business today. “Mike specifically took away the fundamentals of customer service from the hospitality program at Lynn. This is instrumental to our business,” Amanda answered when asked about what valuable assets they learned at Lynn that they still use today.
