Matthew Kutz, who graduated from Lynn with a Ph.D. in 2006, published his first textbook recently. Leadership and Management in Athletic Training: An Integrated Approach is designed to help athletic trainers effectively integrate the art of leadership into the science of management.
The text covers current leadership, motivational and management theories as well as techniques, communication and conflict resolution. It supplies tools for mastering essential skills and behaviors, and explores legal and risk management issues, along with professional ethics as they relate to athletics training.
The faculty at Lynn University, especially Joan Scialli and John Cipolla, have helped Kutz with this personal achievement. Summing up his time at Lynn, Kutz describes it as “at times frustrating, however meaningful and extremely rewarding.”
Kutz is currently a director of clinical education in the athletic training and clinic management program at Bowling Green State University, Ohio.
