Russell Porter '89 has been named the new associate vice president of graduate studies and research at Texas A&M Central Texas.  Porter was the dean of graduate studies and continuing education at Shepard University in West Virginia prior to accepting his new position.  Russell earned his master’s degree from Lynn University in 1989.

Porter’s new job will include leading and managing the university’s graduate programs while creating research opportunities for students, faculty and staff. In addition to working with university personnel, Porter is able to tap the entire Texas A&M University system research resources that are currently over $700 million.  Porter said “many students are choosing to pursue an advanced degree and he looks forward to advancing the program.”  Russell is excited for the new challenge and ready to hit the ground running.
