Justin Cohen ’06 has not only gone from playing tennis at Lynn to interviewing tennis superstars, but also from writing for the Lynn iPulse to having his own weekly column featured on the web.

In 2008 he started his own tennis blog and was hired by the publisher of WorldTennisMagazine.com in 2009. He has since been writing the web column, “This Week in Tennis Business with Jusin Cohen.” that features the top business-related tennis news of the week.

Cohen also has gotten the chance over the last few years to be a daily reporter at various tennis tournaments in and around the Cincinnati area. He has interviewed some of the game’s biggest names including Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Andy Roddick, Venus and Serena Williams, and Kim Clijsters.

His career opportunities began while he was a student at Lynn. During his sophomore year, with the help of then iPulse Editor-In-Chief Sheena Foster, he had the chance to secure a Q & A session with 2003 Men’s U.S. Open Champion and Boca Raton resident, Andy Roddick, for an article in the sports section of the iPulse.

Cohen’s most famous article to date is a feature story that ran on the main page of the official ATP World Tour Web site. At a men’s event in 2009 he interviewed the then-No. 1 tennis player in the world and new father of twin girls, Roger Federer, about the advice on parenthood he received from his good friend and then-No. 1 golfer in the world, Tiger Woods.

When asked how his time playing tennis and studying at Lynn has helped him in his career as a tennis columnist, Cohen responded, “I was given a lot of great advice from many of my professors in the College of International Communication and my tennis coach, Mike Perez. The advice I have received from the personnel at Lynn has allowed me to move forward and achieve many great things in this field.”
