It’s a family affair

Juan Camilo Tamayo ’05, who hails from Colombia, was hired at Lynn University immediately after graduating with an MBA. He now serves as the director of undergraduate day and evening admissions and is very involved in employee giving.

When asked what his favorite thing about Lynn is, Juan Camilo said, “Here at Lynn we are a family. This is now home for me. At Lynn we focus on delivering a good, quality education and we stand behind our mission statement: we are individualized, innovative and international.”

This family value is what Juan Camilo connects with most at Lynn and it is a big reason for why he gives back to his alma mater. “Growing up, my parents taught me to always give a little back to the family when I would work. I grew up with this principle and the principle that I should never go anywhere or visit without bringing a gift. My family and I believe that the more you give, the more you get. Now Lynn is my family and I always give a little bit back just like my parents taught me.”

Within the next 10 years Juan Camilo hopes to see such campus improvements as a new academic building, a large student center where students can congregate and more modern athletic facilities.
