The next addition to the Lynn University alumni family, the Class of 2010, will have the honor of hearing CNN’s chief medical correspondent, Sanjay Gupta, address their class at this year’s graduation ceremony. The Class of 2010 becomes Lynn Universities 45th graduating class.
Sanjay Gupta is an Emmy-award winning chief medical correspondent for the health, medical and wellness unit at CNN. He was among the first journalists to arrive in Haiti following January’s earthquake, travelling regularly to report on the situation there. Gupta additionally writes a column for TIME magazine, contributes to CNN.com and CNNHealth.com and is a practicing neurosurgeon.
Gupta is a member of the staff and faculty of Emory University School of Medicine, Atlanta. He is associate chief of neurosurgery at Grady Memorial Hospital and regularly performs surgery at Emory University and Grady hospitals. Gupta provided live coverage from a desert operating room of the first operation performed during the U.S.-led war with Iraq, in which he performed life-saving brain surgery five times.
Gupta received his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and a doctorate of medicine from the University of Michigan Medical School.
