Alumni ‘speed mentor’ students

By Matt Shearman '10

Local alumni revisited campus last month to help current Lynn students connect with experienced professionals within the students’ particular areas of interest.

Alums working in the fields of business, education, hospitality and sports management re-connected with their alma mater to offer guidance, direction and experience to Lynn University students.

The evening, coordinated by Matt Roos and the Student Alumni Association, operated in similar function to that of “speed dating.”  Each alum spoke with three Lynn students for 20 minutes, at the end of which time students moved on to the next alum within each student’s desired field of employment.

The event offered a personal and informative experience to both the alums and the students. A  special thank you goes out to the 12 alums who returned to Lynn University as mentors. We are grateful to Lorne Sokoloff who provided delicious tastes from his restaurant, the Pita Bar in Boca Raton.
