Little Rock native, Gene Prousnitzer ‘10, became successful due to his genuine passion and hard work. He came to South Florida after high school and immediately fell in love with the culture of Lynn University. Gene earned a bachelor’s degree in sports management and was the student manager for the men’s basketball team for four years. Through that experience he learned the ethics he prevails today. Gene was always told that he was meant for the spotlight, and he is now shining in it.

After graduation, Gene returned home to Arkansas to pursue a master’s degree in sports management. He served as the Graduate Assistant for the men’s basketball team at the University of Arkansas Little Rock. After receiving his master’s, a family friend helped him secure an internship with the sports director of a local Arkansas news station. Because of his charismatic and unforgettable passion, Gene was hired as a news photographer – after just six months with the station. Gene realized this was his niche.

Gene was given an opportunity to work for the NBC/FOX affiliate in Little Rock, as a news photographer – specifically in the sports sector. He worked closely with the area high school football teams, holding tight to the athletics that he had grown accustomed to. Because of his hard work, Gene recently made the transition to the CBS/ABC affiliate station in Lubbock, Texas, as a sports anchor and reporter.

Gene took only two journalism classes while at Lynn University and not a single class in broadcasting. His energetic personality is what brought him to fame, along with his strong work ethic. “It’s not what you know,” said Gene. “It’s who you know and how hard you work.” A family friend was instrumental in Gene landing his first internship, but Gene worked hard and established his presence as a sports news broadcaster and continues to flourish day by day.
