At a young age, Joseph Deglomini, Jr. '00 discovered his interest in buildings. Years later he left his hometown to tour Lynn University. Deglomini knew almost immediately after visiting the campus that it was the institution for him. “The teachers and staff made me feel very comfortable. I liked having the up close and personal relationship with my teachers instead of being just a number at a larger school.” Joseph graduated in 2000 with a Bachelor Degree in Business Management.

While studying at Lynn, Joseph began to notice numerous self-storage facilities being built. He wanted to understand why there was a heightened demand for such units. As his curiosity grew, he requested unit sizes and pricing information from local facilities. He was shocked to learn how much money was generated from this business. Post College, the first building Joseph built was a self-storage facility that was later sold to Public Storage. Since then, he has developed two more.

Joseph’s drive and motivation were obvious as he invested his summers interning with New York City broker Mark Jaccom. “I consider Mark to be one of the best tenant rep brokers in the City; he offered to take me under his wing. He ran a team of young brokers at the time, and I learned so much from them. I realized then I had a passion for getting involved in the Real Estate business but on the landlord side.”

Today, Joseph is a principal of Simone Development, a full-service real estate investment company. “We mainly focus on long term Real Estate investments and rarely sell. Our goal is to continue to grow our portfolio and manage it to the best of our abilities.” Deglomini’s success was recently featured in Real Estate Weekly.

For those interested in entering the Real Estate business, Joseph recommends reading the book, The Art of the Deal by Donald Trump. “This book gives a perfect example of what it takes to be successful in the Real Estate business.” Overall, success comes with experience; you have to live it to learn it as you grow within your career.

Joseph Deglomini, Jr. is also very active within the community. He sits on the Board of Calvary Hospital and recently became a Director of the Mt. Vernon Police Foundation. Further, he is a proud husband and father of two sons who simply add to his motivation and joy.
