Patrick Moen '02 graduated with a bachelor’s degree in hospitality administration and is putting his degree to use as the general manager of the Grand Lux Café in Boca Raton, Fla. He regularly helps with the development of managers and staff, sales planning, daily operations, inventory and cost control.

Before heading the Grand Lux Café, Patrick was an assistant general manager at the Cheesecake Factory in Aventura, Fla. While working at Cheesecake, he always suggested his customers try Grand Lux Café, their chain restaurant, as it is one of his favorite restaurants.

“The environment at the two restaurants is very similar but as a company we are trying to establish ourselves as having nothing to do with Cheesecake Factory” stated Patrick. Grand Lux Café, has a higher touch of elegance than Cheesecake Factory, and is a new brand with only 14 restaurants nationwide. The café has many more moving parts including its own baking facility on site where their signature desserts are made.

Patrick was on campus recently and commented that “While spending lunch at Lynn I could not believe all of the changes. It looks like a completely different university. It’s amazing how in ten years the campus looks completely different. All of the new buildings and the memorial are such remarkable spots on the campus that really make it breathtaking.”

“To be running the restaurant here in Boca Raton, Fla. near my alma mater is such a dream come true. I went to LU to run a multi-million dollar business and that's what I'm doing. Without Lynn I would have not been able to achieve these goals.”
